My Favorite Classroom Tools and My Tidal Teaching Moments
I love teaching First Grade at Ridge Elementary in Duson, Louisiana. My classroom has a flood a different tools that I use in teaching my everyday lessons. I teach with Cross-Curricular, Technology, and Art Integration. My school is fortunate to be a part of LAA+ Art Integration and we have 1 to 1 Chromebook Devices. |
Presenting at LACUE State Technology Conference on K-2 Digital Resources "The Primary Teachers' Technology Treasure Chest", 2017
After being awarded "Elementary Teacher of the Year" at LACUE (Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators) in 2016, I was accepted to present again the following year. I wanted to present on Primary resources because I felt like a lot of technology training is geared towards upper grades. Young learners are just as apt to discover and explore technology as any other grade level. I hoped to inspired primary aged teachers to be bold in using digital learning in their classroom with even the most limited devices.

Teacher Leader Summit in New Orleans, La
I was asked to attend Teacher Leader Summit in Summer of 2017 to review the new Louisiana State Science Standards. I was able to connect to other teachers all over the state which is an invaluable experience. TLS was a great experience for a novel teacher like me. I learned new presentation techniques to bring back to my PD's and I was inspired to develop deeper connections with amazing educators around the state. We unpacked and explored the LSSS with teachers from all over the state.

LPSS Science Teacher Cadre
I've been working with my District's Science Department to write brand new first grade science lessons for Louisiana State Science Standards. I've enjoyed working with other first grade teachers in creating science lessons and assessments. We follow the 5E Model of Instruction to develop rigorous science content lesson plans for our district's first grade teachers. The process is still ongoing but I enjoy being on the Science Teacher Cadre team and creating meaningful science lessons.

GoNoodle Presentation at District School Board Meeting
In the Fall of 2016, my District GoNoodle Representative and their Sponsor, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, approached me to present to School Board Members. I use GoNoodle as a Brain Break between daily lessons to better engage my students. I gathered students from my school to show our School Board Members how important this program is to us.

Whole Brain Teaching
I use Whole Brain Teaching in my classroom because it works! My class lives by the 5 Rules and I love the famous Attention-Getters including "Class?" "Yes!" and "Hands and Eyes!" I use "Teach!" "Ok!" where students teach each other a topic in a turn-and-talk fashion. My students love to teach each other what their learning. I also use "Mirror" which is where students repeat words said and hand gestures to better engage their whole brain on the given content.
"Elementary Teacher of the Year" LACUE State Technology Conference 2016
LACUE, Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators, is an awesome technology conference for Louisiana. I was awarded "Elementary Teacher of the Year" for my District (eight surrounding parishes). I learned so much about digital learning and the importance of teaching with technology. I was so honored to attend again in 2017 and present a session named "The Primary Tech Teacher's Treasure Chest".

AOC Community Media Presented Digital Media Lesson
During Digital Media Literacy Week in 2016, AOC Community Media came by to teach my first grade class about digital media. They used videos, popular ads, and images to teach about digital media and its significance. Common Sense Education is an excellent housing of resources for teaching students about how to read digital media in today's world.
