My Teaching Philosophy
|
Teaching is all about taking risks, not being afraid to make some waves. I need to just go for it. Education is constantly shifting so the way we teach needs to adapt along with it. I need to guide my teaching toward the digital world's new age of technology.
I am truly passionate about cultivating relationships, maintaining teaching ambitions, and teaching for the unknown future. I hope to create relationships in my classroom community between my students and myself. I am making an effort to inspire my students and my colleagues to foster meaningful connections. I have ambitions to help other teachers in engaging their students in the digital world. I must ride the waves, or get swept under in the currents. |
My teaching mindset is everything; I must sustain an open and ever-changing mindset. Teaching is all about just diving in and trying new things. My teaching is centered around looking directly at the learning process and not the life-less product from extensive mandated assessments. To be a teacher today, I need those in power to provide adequate support and look at learning as a whole process. Teachers should be seen as a valuable asset in developing their own teaching; there should be ample conversations about the teaching process.
I appreciate the shift towards student-centered learning, as well as digital learning. As a teacher, I want to know what my students know, because it's all about the learner, not the teacher. Teachers must just jump out into the unknown in order to truly realize their full potential as a teacher. Digital learning is the future and technology is here to stay. I believe technology is the most rewarding pathway towards students' realizing their own learning and taking ownership of their own learning process.

My Learning Philosophy
|
I believe learning is a constant and everlasting process, not a product to be scrutinized. As a child, I didn't identify myself as a "good" learner. I felt like I was not right for school and that I just wasn't as smart as my teachers wanted me to be. I barely performed at an average quality at all subjects. I spent the rest of my school years thinking "I'm just not good at school". However, once I started my learning journey through college and teaching, I actually do like to learn so long as its on my terms.
I believe my learning has shifted from "performing to the needed assessment standard" to learning just to learn. I was inspired by learning about the newest teaching tools and creating lessons to better engage my students. |
I believe learning must be active and build upon past experiences. Once I started studying for my Master's Program, I realized that I'm actually a tenacious learner. I can't wait to learn the newest developments in today's teaching world. It is a true passion of mine to learn about teaching and learning. I want to be the inspiration to my students to be life-long learners as well.
My learning beliefs circle back around Constructivism with a hint of Connectivism. All learning is creative, active, and dynamic in a Constructivist classroom. I want my learning to reflect the process of my knowledge acquisition, not just the end product. I belief our digital world has created an endless supply of networking between learners. Today's world is constantly changing, so our learning style needs to remain inter-connected and current.
